D'Alembert System
Increase bet by one unit after loss, decrease by one unit after win
Definition
The D'Alembert system is a moderate progressive betting strategy where you increase your bet by a fixed unit amount after each loss and decrease by the same unit after each win. It's based on the theory of equilibrium - that wins and losses will eventually balance out. This system is much less aggressive than Martingale, making it safer for smaller bankrolls, though it still carries risk during extended losing streaks.
Example
You set unit size at $5, base bet $10. Loss: bet $15 (+$5). Loss: bet $20 (+$5). Win: bet $15 (-$5). Win: bet $10 (-$5, back to base). Loss: bet $15 (+$5). Your bets climb and descend gradually.
💡Strategy Tip
Choose a small unit size relative to your bankroll (0.5-1% of total). This system is good for players who want progression but find Martingale too risky. Best combined with low stop-loss multipliers for frequent small wins.
